Diamonds as an investment | Enhanced Diamonds | Labs/Certificates

Diamonds as an investment

It’s important to be in the right frame of mind when making a major purchase like a diamond and to avoid being influenced by DeBeers (the diamond producers’ cartel) and their advertising.

One of the biggest myths they sell is that diamonds are a good investment. At the risk of speaking out against our own self interest, diamonds are not a good investment. They are a beautiful, durable, emotional fashion statement, and they can give you a great deal of joy for many generations. They are just not a good investment.

Why? Because too many people have to handle them and profit from them as they travel from the mine to you. The result is a high price at the retail level which practically guarantees that your diamond will never be sold at a profit. If cars lose 15% when they leave the lot, then figure most diamonds probably lose at least 30-40% when they leave the store.

Lets review the facts:

FACT 1 -- Diamonds from FI to SI1 (flawless to slight inclusions 1) in clarity all look the same once they are mounted in jewelry, and even most SI2s inclusions cannot be seen by the naked eye.

FACT 2 -- A diamond is worth 30%-40% less money the moment you buy it,

FACT 3 -- Diamonds in the SI (slight inclusions) to VS (very slight inclusions) clarity range provide the best value (most flash for the least cash) when you are buying a diamond.

FACT 4 -- Buying a diamond with clarity higher than VS-SI means you are spending more money and receiving little or no additional value for the additional money you are spending.

FACT 5 -- Enhanced Diamonds are also a great way to buy an amazing diamond at a lower price.

What does that mean? Shop Wisely!! Get the biggest, most beautiful diamond you can find for the lowest possible price. At Nicer Diamonds can help you do both.

Natural Enhanced Diamonds

For more than 30 years it has been commonplace to enhance many types of gemstones. Emeralds are usually oiled to improve their appearance. Rubies and Sapphires are usually heated to improve color uniformity, and pearls are commonly bleached. They are all natural stones that begin with being mined from the Earth, and the same is true for Enhanced Diamonds.

Enhanced Diamonds are 100% Natural Diamonds, mined from the Earth like any other Diamond. With today's technology enables laboratories to optically eliminate "feathers" and other inclusions in diamonds. The material used for the enhancement, a thin film infusion process, does not add any weight and does not change the optical properties of the diamond. Rather, it enhances the reflectivity of the stone, making it appear clearer and more brilliant.

An Enhanced Diamond is just as strong and just as a Non-Enhanced Diamond. The enhancement is invisible to the naked eye, and even trained jewelers need special equipment to positively identify a diamond as Enhanced. So when you buy an Enhanced Diamond, it is safe to say that only you and the jeweler who sold it to you will ever know that your diamond was enhanced.

Now you can afford a larger, more beautiful diamond you ever dreamed of, for significantly less, thanks to Enhancement. Natural Enhanced Diamonds compare favorably with Non-Enhanced Diamonds selling for 2 to 4 times more.

Bottom Line Recommendation: Remember that a diamond is a beautiful emotional statement and fashion product -- not an investment. Then buy an Enhanced Diamond to get a great looking diamond and save a great deal of money.

Caring for a Natural Enhanced Diamond

Your diamond needs no special care. Wear it and enjoy it just as you would any other diamond. It will not be affected by ultrasonic cleaning, steam cleaning, boiling water or detergent.

The Enhanced treatment can be damaged only by the direct heat of a blowtorch or by boiling your Diamond in highly corrosive chemicals. If you’re gold jewelry needs repair or resizing, ask your jeweler to remove your Enhanced Diamond and then replace it when the rest of his work is complete. (This is good practice for all Diamonds) too.
